The Holiday Road Most Traveled
Oh, the holidays. A time for gathering with friends and family, decorating the house, and driving through traffic! We all want to have a holly, jolly holiday—but how can we do that when it takes us what feels like six hours to get to our destination that is only two hours away?
Fortunately, there are things you can do to reduce the stress of traveling this holiday.
Keep Safe on the Road
While we work hard to make certain the roads are free from potholes, cracks, etc. that may cause damage to your vehicle and make the roads unsafe, you can do your part by taking these tips into consideration when driving this holiday.
Buckle up! Whether you are going five minutes or five hours down the road, buckle up - everyone!!
Put down the electronics! They are not worth it! People survived without cell phones for a very long time. It is possible! You can wait to make a call or send a text until you take a break from driving. If a call/text cannot wait, and you do not have a passenger with you, then pull over and park your car before you use your electronic device. Tired of the radio? Have a CD ready to go in the CD player, so you don’t have to go searching for music while driving. The roads are crazy busy during the holidays. The less distractions for you, the better!
Be alert! Expect the unexpected. Keep an eye on all the other drivers on the road. You never know when weather conditions might change. One minute it may be sunny, the next stop it may be raining. And who knows, snow might even be at your destination. Be ready for whatever may come your way! And try—if you can—to not travel alone. There is safety in numbers!
We hope you and your family have a wonderful and safe holiday season!
