Rainy Days Are Here Again!
If only every day on the construction site could be like some of the days we’ve had these past few weeks. The temperature in the 60s/70s. The wind blowing at just the right speed. The sun shining down. Oh, those were the days we appreciate so much.
However, the rain is coming. But that doesn’t mean a construction worker’s job is done. It just means that special precautions need to be taken to protect ourselves from potential injuries during storms.
When the Rain Comes
Unfortunately, rain during this time of year is just plain cold. As a result, when it comes falling down on workers on construction sites, they’re at risk of hypothermia. Therefore, it’s important for workers to wear the proper clothing and rain gear while on a job site.
During a rainstorm while on the construction site, watch out for lightening strikes. And live wires in rainy conditions can cause serious issues, as well.
While you may think the danger only occurs when the rain is pouring down, injuries can occur even after a thunderstorm. When the rain stops, it doesn’t mean the ground is dry. Immediately after a rain or even for days following a heavy rain, construction workers are at an increased risk of slips and falls. Wearing the proper waterproof, non-skid footwear is vitally important.
