Holiday Road Trip With Kids—Made Easy | Wright Brothers Construction

Happy holidays! The team at Wright Brothers Construction doesn’t want your holiday to start off on a bumpy note, which is why we’re here to help offer tips on how to keep your children entertained while on the road.

On the Road Again …

Does it feel like you just got back from Thanksgiving? Well, here you are again—about to hit the holiday road with the kiddos. Keep your sanity (and theirs) by keeping them entertained while on the trip.

First, start talking today about where you are going for the holidays and what you are going to do. By starting the conversation, you are helping to get them involved in the trip ahead of time and building excitement, which can help the road trip feel more like an adventure than a chore.

Second, pack your car smart. Think about all the things that went wrong during the last family road trip. Was the snack bag at the very bottom of the trunk? Did you forget to bring travel games and colored pencils? Did the kids end up needing a change of clothes, but they weren’t easy to get to?

One of the main ways to set yourself up for a successful road trip is to pack the car appropriately. Put everything you are not going to need on the drive in the very back, while keeping a bag or two of everything you will need frequently close by and in reach.

Finally, don’t forget to make time for rest stops during your trip. If you want your kids to be able to sleep better while on the road, then they are going to need to run off some energy. Research rest areas that are both clean and have an area where kids can run around. Depending on the weather, you might be able to bring a ball to play catch, a soccer ball to kick around or even a frisbee.
