Easy Ways to Be 'Plane' Nice!

The traveling of 2017 has only just begun. Whether through work or for personal enjoyment, traveling is a part of our daily lives. If air travel is in your future, read on.

Follow the Etiquette Rules

Let’s face it. When driving in a car, you usually know who you’re traveling with. However, when it comes to flying on an airplane, you may only know yourself. Therefore, it’s important to be on your best behavior to make the flight a smooth one for everyone.

If you’re one of the lucky ones with a window or aisle seat, count your blessings. You have the luxury of being able to look out the window—or the ability to get up and down as you wish. However, if you get stuck in the middle, experts agree, you should get the armrests. If you’re sitting by the window or aisle, be nice and let the person in the middle have the armrests for comfort.

Depending on how long your flight is, you may want to get up and stretch to get your blood flowing, as well as help prevent blood clots. Yet, while you have the right to get up and stretch, it’s also important that you see exactly what and who is around you. Be careful not to block the aisle for too long or in a way that prevents other passengers and flight attendants from coming and going. In addition, make sure you aren’t in front of the bathroom or an emergency exit.

Also, be aware of personal space, and don’t take up all the space in the overhead bin. Everyone needs to have a place for their belongings, and not everyone is happy about being on top of one another, so do your best to make yourself comfortable, as well as others.
