Drive Safely in Construction Zones | Wright Brothers Construction
The team at Wright Brothers Construction wants to remind you that with schools back in session, the roads are going to be more crowded. Therefore, it’s important to pay special attention while out on the roads, especially when driving through construction zones.
Construction Zone Safety 101
Did you know that more than 40,000 injuries occur each year in highway work zone-related crashes? And with the new infrastructure funding headed to Tennessee, more and more construction work will be happening on our highways. Therefore, it’s important that we all work together to help keep our highways safe while also keeping our workers and drivers safe, too. Remember, we all have one goal—to make it home to our families every night.
When approaching a construction site, make sure to stay alert. Avoid any distractions and give the road your full attention. In addition to watching out for the workers on the job, you also want to pay close attention to the flaggers who are trying to safely direct traffic so that it runs as smoothly as possible.
If driving in the dark or in foggy conditions, you also want to make sure your headlights are turned on so that workers and other drivers can see your car clearly. Do not tailgate. You want to make sure you leave plenty of room in case your car needs to stop suddenly.
While you do need to keep up with the traffic, keep to a safe speed. In construction zones, the speed limit can vary, depending on the conditions of the construction site. Make sure you adhere to these speed limits for your safety and the safety of others.
Please help keep our workers safe while on the roads. When you are driving through construction zones, watch out for the Wright Brothers Construction team members who are on the job to help keep our roads and bridges safe.
